Prevent financial-based animal surrenders by providing aid to families struggling to afford caring for their pets.
We connect with pet guardians who are facing financial hardship and find them resources that can help. One of those resources may be creating a campaign on our website. We're using the model popularized by Donors Choose - we collect the funds and then purchase the needed items or pay for services directly.
Animal surrenders are at an all time high. While there are plenty of legitimate reasons a family may have to surrender their pets, we feel strongly that no one should be forced into that situation by a change in their financial status or the cost of living. We also noticed that there aren't a ton of programs focusing on keeping pets with their families and saw an area we could help.
Not yet - right now, we're testing out this model and seeing if it works to help keep pets with their families longer. If it works, we'll be pursuing 503c status.
