No. Similar to Donors Choose, we work with pet guardians to come up with a list of potential purchases and expenses, collect the funds, and then take care of the purchasing on our end. This helps ensure that the donations are used for their intended purpose.
While it's true that some people adopt pets without having the financial means to care for them, for most, that's not the case. Life changes fast, and sometimes you can find yourself suddenly unable to afford caring for a companion. Surrendering a pet can be traumatic for both the person and the animal, and the shelter system is more overcrowded than ever. Trying to keep pets and their people together is the best option.
A Home Furever is a fairly new organization, so we're still experimenting. For now, we plan to create campaigns around a 3 month budget or a one-time-medical-treatment fee.
